Buckeye Elks Lodge No. 2686

Your privacy

We're a lodge of neighbors, and we treat your information the way we'd want ours treated. We only collect what we need to get back to you, organize our events and volunteers, and run the members portal. No ads, no tracking, and we never sell it.

What we collect and why

When you send us a note

Your name, email and what your note is about, plus your phone number and message if you add them. We use them to reply to you.

When you ask about becoming a member

Your name and email, plus your phone number, how you heard about us and your message if you add them. A lodge officer uses them to reach out and help you through joining.

When you sign up for lodge news

Your email address, so we can send the occasional update about lodge events. To stop getting them, email bpoe2686@gmail.com and we'll take you off the list.

When you volunteer at an event

Your name and email, plus your phone number if you add it. We use them to confirm your spot and organize volunteers.

When you sign up for a golf event

Your name and email, and your phone number if you add it (a corporate sponsorship needs one). The names of the players in your group and, if you add them, their emails. The name for a tee sign if you sponsor one, what you signed up for, how you plan to pay and whether you've paid, and any note you add. We use them to organize the event. Payment is never taken on this website; the golf committee collects it.

When you use the members portal

Your name and email, so you can sign in and get lodge notices, and your phone number if you add it. If you set a sign-in PIN, it's stored scrambled, so no one can read it. We also keep a record of where you're signed in (the device and browser, its internet address, and when it was last used) so you can see your sign-ins and sign out other devices from your profile. And the portal keeps what you do there, like volunteer sign-ups and requests you send to officers. Officers may also keep short notes to help them follow up with you.

Who sees it

The lodge officers and admins who run the website and the members portal. The members organizing an event can see who volunteered for it, so they can reach you. If you turn on the members directory in your profile, other signed-in members can see your email and phone number. If you serve as an officer or chair a committee, your name and title appear on the public Officers page. We never sell or trade your information.

Some outside services help us do the work:

  • Email. Our emails, like replies, confirmations and sign-in links, are sent through an email service provider, which handles your address and the message to deliver it.
  • Google Calendar. Lodge events, except internal ones, are published to the lodge's public Google Calendar. That's event details only, never who signed up.

Cookies, ads and tracking

  • The public website sets no cookies.
  • The members portal uses one cookie, only to keep you signed in.
  • No ads, no analytics, no tracking.
  • Like any website, our server sees your device's internet address when you visit. We use it to stop spam, for example by limiting how often a form can be sent.
  • Our forms also check for signs that a program, not a person, sent them. A note that looks like spam waits for a lodge officer to look at it before anyone is emailed. To avoid emailing the same address over and over, the website keeps a scrambled record of where a thank-you email went, for two days.
  • Links to Facebook, Instagram or Google Calendar take you to those sites, which have their own privacy policies.

Removing your information

Want us to remove your information, or have a question about it? Email bpoe2686@gmail.com and tell us what you'd like removed. Members can also change their phone number, directory listing and email preferences on their profile page.
